From time to time, there’s some really odd stuff that crosses my desk. Yesterday, I fielded an e-mail from someone who was convinced that ASU’s mascot Sparky is not just a devil, but The Devil. Sparky has been a part of ASU since 1956,*** but never mind that. We’re on the road to ruin. In fact, there’s only one explanation for the Sun Devils’ 2-0 football record so far this season, the whole football team must be possessed. Where’s Fr. Gabriele Amorth when you need him?
*** Sparky had a brief hiatus on 9/14/87 when Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in ASU’s stadium.
